| Barbara
J. Pafume
BIOGRAPHY
Barbara is an award winning artist and signature
member of the Vermont Watercolor Society. She studied at the
Art Institute in Chicago, Silvermine Guild in Connecticut,
and with several well-known artists working in oil, acrylic,
watercolor and pastel. She developed her realistic style over
the years to capture the dramatic and poignant moments in
life that inspire her. By using deep colors and strong contrast,
she transforms everyday scenes into memorable moments of beauty,
drama and passion.
For over 30 years, Barbara has conducted workshops and taught
classes privately and for several art organizations in Vermont,
Illinois, Connecticut, Georgia and Maine. She frequently has
been invited to speak on her research in creativity to many
businesses, as well as private and non-profit organizations.
Although she now exhibits mostly watercolors and pastels,
she also paints and teaches oil, acrylic and drawing.
She has had many solo exhibitions and her work is in public
and private collections in Vermont, across the United States
and in Europe. Her home and studio is in scenic
Fairfax, Vermont.
In May, 2002, two of her paintings were
published by North Light Books.
The beautiful hardcover book is titled Splash
7, A Celebration of Light, The Best in Watercolor.
She was the only Vermont artist and one of 75 international
artists whose work was chosen for the collection. The two
paintings that were featured, “Cathedral” and
“Ridge Light”, are now available as prints.
Barbara has recently expanded her art business, Four Seasons
Studios, to include two new ventures. Treehouse
Originals, is a collection of her original works
of art that have been reproduced on greeting cards and are
available on her website and at local stores in Rutland and
Manchester, Vermont. Painting Workshops
of Vermont offers artists 3 & 5-day painting workshops
in beautiful, scenic Fairfax, Vermont.
American Artist Watercolor
magazine featured an article about Barbara’s teaching
style, her workshops and her paintings, including a demonstration,
in the spring 2003 issue. The article highlights her Moonlight
in Vermont workshops, where she teaches students
to capture the magic of nocturnes.
The American Diabetes Foundation
chose Barbara’s painting, Load
Limit 8 Tons for their 2005 Gift of Hope Calendar,
month of October. She dedicated the painting to her father
who has diabetes.
Please visit Barbara’s
website galleries to view her
paintings, prints and for further information about her workshops,
classes and new line of cards. |
