Artist Statement from Barbara J. Pafume

The natural world reflects the values I hold dear. The Vermont Maple tree is a living example of strength, resiliency, flexibility, and often serves as an example of how to face the winds of change and turmoil through perseverance and tolerance. Working in my colorful gardens reminds me of the wonder, joy, peace, beauty and results of honest and focused work. Listening to and watching children, animals, woodland steams and seeing majestic mountains and verdant farmland restores my sense of humor, laughter and delight. The incredible Vermont moonlight brings to mind mystery and passion. All of these everyday occurrences inspire me to paint as I always look to immortalize the ordinary.
